I have heard that an external filter can be installed. Can someone give me some information on where the lines would connect? I found an external filter housing for around 20 bucks that seems like it should work. By 56, the built-in filter base by the flywheel was standard. The oil supply line to the filter from the 55 engine connects to a 1/8" pipe thread port just ahead of the front of the intake manifold above the water pump. Not sure about where the return line attaches, but all it needs to do is return oil to the crankcase. That 55 block is a really scarce item, and it's valuable to someone doing a year-matching restoration on a vehicle.
