Hi got an electric fan conversion but i cant get enough clearence with the water pump that is on my truck its a 1954 3600 stock motor stock radiator . My question is there a shorter shaft water pump that will give me the clearence I need too get the cooling fan in behind the radiator

Ok figured it out changed the Electric fan too a pusher and mounted it in front So will either run a two fan setup the mechanical one and the electric as a backup or just the electric one taking off the mechanical one

I have an electric fan I put on the front of my radiator on a '37 Chevy coupe with a 261 in it. It does fine. I do have a 12 volt system with a 100 amp alternator. There isn't any problems to date and I race this one.

The stock fan setup would be the best setup on a 54 truck with a 54 engine. If the engine has been upgraded to a later model 235 and you are finding a lack of clearance for the stock fan setup you need to check out the "water pump adaptor plate" conversion which properly positions the water pump higher on the radiator, gives you additional clearance for your pulleys/belts, provides you with the proper fan speed and let's you use a stock early waterpump that is available at most local parts houses.

The so-called "short water pump" addresses NONE of these issues and the overpriced pump is available only through mail order. The stock fan setup using the adaptor plate is simple, inexpensive, and once it's installed you'll not have to give it another thought.
