Ive been having the hardest time with the brakes on my truck. I replaced all the wheel cylinders on it and the MC, but is hasnt fixed the problem. I've put thousands of miles on it the way it is, but it is WAY too dangerous. I have to pump the brakes a good 3-5 times before i get pedal pressure. It has brake fluid in it, and I've tried bleeding them also. I pulled off the passenger side brake drum and the shoes look like they have plenty of meat on them. i had them adjusted once and they were good for about 1000 miles, but were gradually getting worse that whole time. If anyone has any idea of what this problem could be I'd love to hear it. Thanks, Ken

These are tricky to adjust. There are 2 adjustments on each wheel. All the adjustments are right hand threads so the adjuster spoon goes in opposite directions. Tighten each adjuster till the wheel gets hard 2 turn & back it off 2-4 notches. When these are right there is practically no movement in the brake poedal. You just apply pressure.

Yup! And you may have to bleed them after your done, you might have sucked some air into the lines.

Yes it's normal to need adjusting at first. You have worn down the high spots & the linings are seated. After that probably 3-4 thousand miles. I still question wheather they were adjusted right the first time.

Ken i was having simliar problems with the brakes
on my 52, i had replaced the wheel cyl. and
master cylinder, adjusted brakes cyl. and
bled them many times. but always had to pump
brakes alot and still the brake peddle would
fade down to the floor board.
i read about speed bleeders here on the bolt.
i installed them all around, no more problems.
i paid 21 with tax for 4 of them at autozone.
best $21 i've spent on my truck thus far.
(take an old bleeder with you when you go,
because they have many of different sizes)
