I have a 1954 GMC 248 motor and I wanna repaint it. What was the original color?

I believe the correct color name is Crimson Red. Duplicolor 1607 is close for a rattle can job, but a little too orange.

Thanks. For me it's probably close enough.

I used Ace Hardware Safety Red and no one knows the difference.

I know what everyone says the color is suppose to be, but the GMC service bulletin T-24-006 says it's Pimpernel Scarlet. I have seen Frd red and other paints used. In the end, it looks like Red will do.
