| | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 222 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 222 | Hey there guys, I've been looking for either a 9' stake bed or a 9' fleet side bed for a '52 1-ton that will hopefully arrive one of these days. I found a stake bed that looks to be factory for the era, it's sitting on a '56 currently and the dimensions are 8'2"long x 6'8"wide, shorter and skinnier than the factory stake bed listed here. Here are photos of the bed. I think the skinnier bed would look good on my 1-ton, which was originally a pickup (still has long running boards) but wonder if being 8'2" long will fit on the frame with the appropriate spacing between bed and cab, considering the proper stake bed length is 9'3". Anyone out there know how much space there is between the end of the frame and the end of the stake bed on a factory built AD 1-ton? Would an 8'2" bed fit okay on the frame?

From the back of the cab to the rear of the frame is 96 1/4". I made a bumper/bar that extends from the back of the frame another 9". The flatbed is 102 3/8" overall and there is a 2 7/8" space between the cab and front of the bed. I also have a GMC 250 panel, it has factory extentions at the rear of the frame that extend it 12", the extensions are 'C' channel that bolt inside of the frame members making the overall distance from the back of the "cab" 108 1/4". These dimensions make sense, usually the 1 tons had a 9' (108")pickup bed. Both of my trucks use the same frame, just different mounts for the cab and body. Thanks for this information. My truck arrived today, so I was able to confirm your measurements directly. Still trying to figure out whether I want the full 9' flat bed on mine. Decisions decisions...

I think this one and mine are about 92" wide which is wider than most.
