I am in the process of having my 1952 GMC 228 engine rebuilt. The flywheel ring gear is slightly damaged on the leading edge of several teeth. Has anyone had experience in removing the gear, then reinstalling it after reversing it. Apparently the 228 ring gears are hard to find and finding a new one appears to be difficult as my rebuilder is having no luck in locating one.
