We tested the ignition switch and the test light lighted, that means the ignition switch is O.K. (I'm assuming) We tested the coil as well, and it works. I'm beat, where should we go from here?

When the points are open, the light should be on. When they close, the light goes out. It's a common mistake to get the connector that goes through the side of the distributor grounded, resulting in the same symptom as if the points were staying closed all the time.
