Any insights or tricks of the trade on this would certainly be helpful Thanks

You should have an 8 1/2 x 11 instruction sheet from Lokar with the title "Lokar Automatic Transmission Shifter Neutral Safety Switch Adjustment Instructions With Lokar's Aluminum Adjuster Plug".
That explains the procedure to correctly position the switch. Do you suppose they could have made the title of that sheet any longer?

Lokar sells a product so you can do it a different way. It's a bracket that bolts to your transmission pan (on a SBC) with the push button switch. It was a snap to install and adjust. They may sell one that fits your application, just give them a call. Good luck.

Craig's other option would be to fabricate a bracket at the transmission shift arm and shaft and mount a microswitch that closes, completeing the starting circuit, only when the shift arm is in the Park position.
I did that at the Lokar e-brake handle on my roadster to sound a buzzer when the e-brake is on to keep me from having a senior moment and driving off with the e-brake still on. Lokar sells a kit for that but to me it is way over priced so I made my own.

| | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,886 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,886 | On mine (using a Turbo 350 transmission) I had to cut the lever apart on the transmission and lengthen it a little. The leverage or ratio was off and I could get one but not the other just like you are experiencing. After I did that it worked just like it should. I bet you find if you go to Low range in the shifter and trans with out being connected, the linkage won't line up. On mine I could park but no low, or I could low and no park and the other gears didn't click into place just right.
The neutral start switch is a set and go operation, be sure to use the solid setting plug as per instructions. Once its set you have to adjust the linkage to the trans to make it align with the shifter. You can not adjust it enough to compensate for miss alignment or ratio's.
