Need help identifying this dually. It measures 152.5 across and 6 inches to the spring pads. Has big "S" on it..... I'm hoping it's 40's vintage as the GMC truck I'm working on has the same measurements.

Looks like a 1941 based on the park light housing that was used only in 1941.

it looks like a timkin split rear. i dont know what the S stands for. without seeing the end of the hub and the wheel design along with lug pattern i cant identify it. looking at the size of the tire id say its bigger than a one ton.

46 GMC 3/4 ton

Park Lights give it away as a 41 for sure. Past that it could be either a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. You would probably need the Vin # to dig any deeper in to it.

On second thought, how many leafs on the rear springs?

The only way to know for certain what year/model it is is to use the Chassis ID number found on the ID Plate under the right hood affixed to the cowl, and also stamped on the right front frame horn above the forward spring hanger. Until you have that number, it's all a guessing game. The number will begin either CC or EC. If EC, then it is a '46, and if CC then the number will tell us what year. The numbers after the two letters will tell you the series, model, and wheelbase.

Murraydave - what's unique about the parking lights? they look the same as the ones on my 46 GMC, I thought 41-46 were the same

The vin shows it as a CC4152... 1941 150 series is a 3/4 ton conventional cab. Even with 6 lugs. Hopefully I will be successful in putting a 1 ton axle under it to tolerate the 302 I am putting in it. Standby.... build in progress.

There are two different parking lights the earlier version on his truck the '41 is the type with the smaller tin cover that sits inside the top of the casting and has a longer glass lens(almost 4"long)
And the later version has a shorter lens (2") and the tin cover is larger and covers the casting.
Although I think the original question is actually about the picture of the loose rear end not the truck?

ahh, I didn't see the close up pic at the end, just wondering about the difference, different than the later ones for sure .... and yes, the original question was concerning the loose rear, which I'd say is a 1.5T or bigger, won't get that under a 3/4T pickup and no reason the 3/4T rear won't stand up to a 302, CanepaTwin

That is not a complete number. What is the number on the frame rail above the right front spring hanger? Should be something like "CC 101 4152".

4152 following CC is not the complete number. Take the number off the truck and not off any paperwork to know what you have for sure.

I saw this truck in person, it was a CC152. It is a wickedly awesome truck.

I will note that this 41 had the factory modified 1/2 ton rear. This truck has an OPEN Driveline from the factory, and the rear axle should fit any 40-54 1/2 ton.

Thanks BBSD... for kook... thenumbers on the plate are the only numbers on the truck 'cept for the tag on the bed.... it's wickedly awesome... just like BBSD said...

FYI... I plan on using all the take-off's as trading stock... 'cept for the artillery wheel's... they are already spoken for...
