I have some parts from a 66 GMC Suburban and was wondering what they are worth?
I have the Front split bench seats, with good frames, and also the cushion frames, although the driver's bottom is missing a couple springs. I have the sliders for them as well, but no bolts to attach them to the floor or seat. The passenger flip up seat is there with the brackets. This has both cushions and most of the original fabric, although there are a couple tears in it. I also have the 2nd row rear seat that slides on the tracks and is full width. The frame and back cushion are good, but the bottom frame is bent up and needs help. Could be restored or used as a template/parts for a new one.
I also have the tail lights. The inner housings are nice, with just a little corrosion on the back side and the lenses are complete, although each has a small crack in it, but not too noticeable.
I have both barn door sliders, and also the filler panels that cover the clam shell mounts when using the barn doors.
I have the ash tray
I am also looking to pick up the front and rear chrome bumpers and brackets. The bumpers are decent, couple small dings, but appear straight. they need to be re-chromed.
Can anyone help me with price on these? This is not a for sale thread, as they are not for sale at this time, but just looking to put a value to them at this time.

These were pulled from a 66 suburban that is getting crushed in the near future.
These will be for sale locally in the next few week, since i don't want to ship them, which is also why I am asking for ideas on what they are worth so I can list them accordingly.
My current truck is a 1971 GMC Jimmy on a 70 Blazer Frame. 350/SM465/NP205 with Open 3.73 gears. It had body work started by the previous owner, which was not the best (3/8" of filler on the entire quarter panel. both sides.) and needs some work to clean it up. The 350 is out of a 70 Impala and has been rebuilt (prior to me buying it) I drove it onto the trailer and off the trailer and into my garage when I bought it, and it's sat there since. I tinkered with it here or there, but life took over and I'll be selling that too in the near future.
I work near a local junkyard and go walk there for exercise at lunch. When something unique/rare/old/worthwhile comes in, I will grab it to help supplement my income and to help others out. I try and research everything that I see or pick up, and I do my best to pass along that knowledge.
I apologize if this offends anyone, or if it is against the rules. I state that they are not for sale at this time in the first message to keep people from trying to buy them or ask for them in the wrong location.

An alternative to what you've done here, would have been to post them in the for sale section with a "make me an offer" as your price. You can suggest that you might trade for parts for your current project. Your parts have value to someone who's looking for them, but don't let yesterday's prices fool you into thinking that you made a nice score at work. The condition makes them less desirable. The economy makes them much less desirable. I say post 'em up and let the free market decide on the value. Since that is your stated altruistic goal, right? You just want to help some guys out. So, help 'em out and the rest is gravy. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 | I don't want to continue off topic, but I think it is important that I clear up the issue of "Best Offers" in the For sale section. It is prohibited.Unfortunately, we do not have a "Best Offer" section in the swap meet section. The rules state that you have to put a price on it or it will be deleted. That was there before I started to help Joe and we enforce it. If we don't enforce it, the want ads will become laden with the same questions "how much". We tried many different ways to inform people that the price was needed on the ad, and most of them failed. Joe tried many years before I came aboard and each time I had an idea different than deleting the posts, he would say "tried that and it didn't work" and it wasn't any different when I tried it. The ads shouldn't be replied to on the ad, they should be directed to an email address, PM or a phone contact. We do not enforce this rule, but sometimes I think we should.
I have checked out many sites and most of the classifieds have this same rule. We spend a lot of time cleaning up the swapmeet section and I think it works very well. Lot's of stuff is sold or trade hands each day and virtually without problems. The bolters that use this site do a pretty good job policing themselves.
This question is not that bad and it is a suburban question. If it was left here and locked, people would be able to answer the question through the PM system. It could be removed in, for example in 5 days. I did PM Jimmy with answers to his question, just as I have for others that have posted this type of question. Just my 2 cents.
PS: when you purchase something from an ad that states the seller will contribute to the bolt for each purchase, remind them to do just that, our pot would be fuller! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 14 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 14 | Thanks for the responses.
just to clarify, I don't do this for work. I actually program computers. This is just a hobby.
And I am not looking to make a big score, just looking to make sure I can cover my costs and a little extra to contribute to paying down some bills.
I have been researching the seats and stuff for a while, and I have found prices ranging from Free, to $50, to $150, all the way up to $350. Tail lights I have seen $10 to $100.
I guess it seems like the best idea would be to post them in the sale section with a price, and if people think it's high, then I'll take offers on it. I won't be doing this for a little bit, as i need to make sure I have the pictures and condition portrayed accurately.
And I would have no problem giving a portion of any sale generated from this site back as a gift. When that time comes, I will PM GMONIZ with some details on that. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | This post does not actually "break the rules" regarding buying and selling. However, the spirit of/for that rule is to avoid having posts that have short useful lives in this no-sale/no-swap forum (that is : posts that are only of interest to the buyer and the seller).
This thread is certainly not as blatant nor as offensive as what many other people often try to sneak-in as "For Sale" (or, replies that state "I got what you need, contact me."). Nor is this thread as unnecessary (and offensive) as doing person-to-person "business" when a PM or email message should be done to conduct a personal transaction.
Thank you for self-policing this forum. And, thank you to the original poster for being receptive to people's discomfort.
I'll let this thread stay for a week and then delete it.
