I need at least a close idea of choke/jet sizes for this setup, I can't afford alot of trial and error. BTW, 302 .060, venolia pistons, mild cam, Fenton headers and triple dellorto 40 mm DHLA's. Thanks guys. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 523 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 523 | Go to Webers please atleast you can get parts from several vendors and maybe some help! | | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 1,586 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 1,586 | Harley Davidson guys sometimes use those Dellortos on their engines. The individual bike cylinders are around the same size as your GMC.The tuning should be similar at least as a starting point.Use www.google.com search engine for Dellorto carburetor. I did ,and several web sites came up offering parts ,service and advice.Lets us know how you make out. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 132 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 132 | can't help ya on the delortos but see'ns how yer a local guy, whatcha buildin?

I often look around at the blocks taking up space in my garage with ideas of supercharging something but realize that my t-5 would be a weak link. In particular I've been looking at the front bosses cast on my military 302-an ideal place to bolt on a centrifigal blower.

Jim: I talked to Tom Langdon and he's running a t-5 behind the 302 in his coupe, he says he dosn't have any problems with it and his motor's a little bigger than mine's going to be. BTW, what's a "Liberty" and does it have an od? I respect you advice see'n this engine is your speciality. Also, so far I've been pleased with the dellortos and haven't had to much trouble getting parts, I just cant afford to buy 3 different sized chokes and 6 diff main jets and 4 or 5 diff idle jets for 3 carbs, if you know what I mean. Thanks alot all for your advice, keep it coming. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 132 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 132 | Little Jimmy, i'm straight down Taft across the stop light where it intersects with 287. about a mile and 1/4 south of it

What tranny would you suggest? I know you're using a toploader but I'd kinda like a 5spd, you know more gears and closer ratios. I thought about a NV4500 but I dont like the wide ratios in it. I put one in my '76 this summer and it's a great tranny, strong and all, but it dasen't have performance ratios. Give me suggestions, I'm pretty open. I'm just 18 and this my first time at doing this on an AD . Thanks all. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 128 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 128 | Litte Jimmy. Regarding the transmission, I spoke with Patricks and they suggested going with a Saginaw 4-spd and for cruising, switch out my torque tube rear with a 3:11 chevy rear. My 302 is stock right now. I am at the point where I need to get the drivetrain situation in the works. Any suggestions? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 523 Member | | Member Joined: Aug 2000 Posts: 523 | I ran a Volvo Od for years...It was good with the 228 but 302 killed it twice in less that 100 mi I would use the T-5 over a Saganaw anyday. If you push it you will kill em both!!That's the truth! I really hate the T-O/D but it's just very strong. I'm looking for another trans to run cause the ratios are so bad I might endup with Jag O/D trans I have just not decieded....I have to come-up with something for my Comp Coupe Also know I'm lazy and will spend several times a t-5's price to have a box I can just FLOGG without having to change it Europe was cold and snowy but really very special given a small town style and my Lady's sweet smile.

Wow, I could even run a 4.11 rear with that .5 od. Only problem is the $$$, ouch . But it might be cheaper than blowing a couple T-5's . I'm looking into it .

What are the ratios like? Is it tough enough? How about the bolt pattern and input shaft, would it thake alot of mods? I don't know much about this tranny (obviously ) And most importantly, what do they run? I'm kindof running out of options (in my price range). What rear end should I go for?
