Noticed today that someone had welded a chrome exhaust tip on the end of my 1959 chevy. Now its pretty rusted and it gets soot on my white rear bumper. Looks like there are just to spot welds holding it on, so I was just gonna cut it off and add a galvanized turn down or something.

But does anyone know how it would have looked from the factory?

there was no added tip from the factory, the plain tail pipe ended under the rear corner of the bed behind the drivers fender, aimed slightly to the side and down - it's shown in the assembly manual .... but it's not the rusty tip that's sooting the bumper, it's the rich running condition wink .... and a rear bumper was an option most farmers didn't waste money on

Appreciate the reply! The soot only seems to happen at startup, it really runs great though! I figured it was just a plain jain exhaust stock. Its good to know that it was aimed slightly towards the side though, if it looks OK ill do that.
