I'm looking for tips before I start tearing the carb apart, sounds like the accelerator pump but could it be a fuel line problem, should I start at the tank and work forward or just start on the carb? Have recently changed plugs, wires, rotor and cap. I'm working on this isn't timing or electrical, but... WHAT CARB?
The 58' American GMC had 2 engine options... a 270 six and a 336 V8. I believe the Canadian version had a 235 six or a 283 V8.
There are virtually milllions of other engine/carb combinations out there, and my ESP isn't so good.
John | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 319 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 319 | I don't think carbs are that difficult to rebuild, but you should check/eliminate the easy and obvious things first. Fuel pump output, spark plug type & gap, point gap/dwell, timing, you get the idea.
I agree that it sounds like the accelerator pump, but it's odd that it started acting up "recently" with "recently" changed ignition parts.
