Hello, I hope someone has some know how in this matter. I am changing my four spd with granny to a Saginaw, and I was wanting to know if some can tell me if there is a driveline that would work without any mods to the drive line. I have a driveline out of a 85 shortbed 2wd and a driveline out of a 79 camaro and a driveline out of my 62 lwb, I do know that the 62 driveline will need to be shortened but I am not sure on the rest. this weekend I am putting in a new engine with this trans and will find out soon. but maybe a little info will go a long way for me, any help would be great. thanks Jon

is this for yer 66? check the spline count on the trans [coarse on the old one, fine on the Sag] and the various shaft yokes, if the right length doesn't have the right spline yoke, they're not hard to switch

Yes this is for my 66, sorry I left that out, the old trans has a slip yoke on the drive line and the Saginaw needs a slip yoke in the trans itself. Do you think the u-joints would be a prob? thanks for your help, this is a great site, I wish I found this earlier.

I think GM Ujoints are pretty universal, check what you need and compare the ones listed for both trans and driveshaft - I've replaced Ujoints on older driveshafts to swap on the newer yokes no problem, and easy to find yokes at the wrecker around here

You are going to have to get it made up at a drive shaft shop. Get a yoke to fit the trans., take some measurements & take it all to a drive shaft shop.

Do you know if I have two different size u-joints, will that throw off the balance or anything else?

No. Most drive shaft shops balance them when they are through. You may want to check the pinion angle but if you don,t change the rear engine mounts in won,t change.

I have a new slip yoke that will fit in the trans, and I have the drive line to use the rear u-joint yoke so I will take it in after I get theengine and trans to get my length. Now I found out my rearend needs rebuilt. the list is getting longer! not by my choice too, anyway, thats the joy of old trucks. I love it

Well I found out that a slip yoke out of a 70s camaro with an auto will fit the saginaw, took that down to the driveline shop and had the shorten my old driveline, put a new yoke with a standard yoke, well it should work now thanks for all the advice guys, I love this place more and more everyday.
