I have a 57 3100 V8 Truck with a later V8 in it. Bought it that way 22 years ago.
Vehicle VIN starts with V3A57Fxxxxxx
So I think that says V8 3100 1957 Flint michigan plant, 114 wheelbase 1/2 ton
followed by the Production order

The VIN Buster My engine is apparently much newer. I assume it had a 265 or 283 orignally but then at some later dat it was replaced with another V8.
It was sold to me as a 283. I thought it was a later 283 from 63 or so but the numbers I found on the passenger front flange up by the water say different:

I deciphered the Engine CRE code here:
Small Block Chevy Suffix Codes: CMK - CUD I guess it was an automatic (Turbo Hydra-matic 350) - it is mated to a standard clutch and the original manual 3 speed, on the column now.
It also had the original Generator but with a Ford Motorcraft upper generator bracket on it. I am changing that out to a Chevy bracket.
Also I have put the old 57 style intake manifold with oil filler tube on it and a 2 barrel Rochester and oil bath filter (converted to K&N filter).
I still need to do something better for the PCV as my current solution is too small a hole through the intake manifold.
Does that engine decoding sound correct,from a 1970 350 car?
