I was thinking about getting a fenton dual exhaust kit for my 55 2nd series 1/2 ton with a 235. Has anyone installed one of these systems? How hard was it and how does the carb sit? does the carb stay in it's original location? I'am hoping by installing a dual exhaust set up I can get better gas milage. I have already installed a pretronix electronic ignition and has made a differnce and it works great. thanks for any help and advice concerning this.

The carb sits the same as stock on the stock intake. It is not affected. You will need a means to heat the intake manifold. Kits are offered by several vendors or you could make one.

thank you for the info on the system. I was wanting to get some input before spending the cash for one. So you would also have to buy a kit to heat the manifold?? This might sound like a dumb question, but why heat the manifold?

Thanks for the link explained it very well. So most people do the dual exhaust set up when using dual carbs? The exhayst set I was looking at buying stated that you could install it in your own shop or back yard. is this a true statement?

Are you talking about williams ? they have a dual exhaust system with headers that you bolt up rather than weld. They also have the heat plate that goes with the stock intake manifold, your get heated air from the headers directed to the plate which then keeps the manifold warm. They told me that their headers are built so that they use an o-ring gasket, for a better seal. The kit I'm looking at costs $600.00 for headers and dual exhaust. The pipes runs straight out the back under the bed vs. going out behind the drivers side rear wheel.
I'm also going to use stock manifold with the holly progressive 2 barrel vs. multi carb. Nothing fancy, just want alittle better performance with a kool sound.
Enjoy

I know of 2 methods for heating the manifold...I just asked this question or shall I say I asked which way is better. On your fentons... I believe there are 2 holes ( Plugged ) one on each header, from there your kit will have Tubes that go from your headers to a plate that blocks the stock manifold bottom ( where your single exhaust connected to.) The heated exhaust gases go thru the tube and into the plate and warms the manifold.
The other way is to get a water kit...a plate goes behind your water pump and a tube connects that to another plate under your stock manifold...and another tube takes the water back into the system via heater return hose etc.
Langdons really like the water method....General feedback I got was the heated exhaust work fine and not as cumbersome and leak prone as the water. I was asking about a stock manifold with 1 carb ....I don't know if this applies to a multi-carb setup.
Hope that helps.

Call Danese or Patrick over at Patrick's in Arizona. That's where I got all the components, including the Fentons, to do my 235. I also put his S/S exhaust system on. The main problem I had was with the carb linkage, and to the gas pedal. I called Patrick, and he walked me through it. They are great to do business with. I'm very please with the whole set up, and the truck sounds radical. He has the heat kit for the manifold, too. It's a breezer to install on the Fentons.
