Hey Guys,
My old comp. died on me in the fall,
the tank went south. I stripped it down and
kept everything but the tank, I figured I could find an exact replacement on CL and a
I did. Well the new one keeps tripping my breaker and I looked a bit closer, the motor is a 1 HP and my old one is a 2 HP everything else looks the same, so long story even longer can I swap my 2HP on to my new old new comp? Also would you get rid of the single gauge and go back to my double gauge one from my old one? It's hard to see but on the left in second shot, also check out truck show pix if you like!

I think you are asking if you can put a 2hp motor on a 1hp single stage compressor. as long as it is the right speed I can't see why not.But just to be clear don't put a two stage compressor on a single stage tank.It wont handle the pressure.The tanks are different.Steel vs cast iron. so be careful and read the ratings on the equipment.

If all your changing over is the motor from a 1 hp too a 2 hp I wouldnt think there should be too much of a problem, as goneagain says if they are roughly the same speed should work fine and not quite so hard as twice the power so less chance of tripping your breaker
