Can someone tell me what the make/model of the manual 3 speed chevy used in the '51 3100's? Also, what years was this transmission used? Best source of parts for rebuild?

I've got a couple shops interested in donationg their time to refurbish it, but they are concerned if they find problems that they won't be able to find parts.

The 48-53 truck 3-speed transmission should be interchangeable.

There was a standard 3-speed and a much rarer heavy-duty 3-speed.

Here is a page with interesting information, including casting codes. And, that information might be correct, even though the article starts off with a half-year mistake in the first line: "Until mid-year 1955, Chevrolet three-speed pickup trucks had their driveshafts enclosed inside of a torque tube pivoted off the back of the transmission."

The shop should be able to find all the replacement parts, but if not aftermarketers such as American Classic Truck Parts (Stovebolt sponsor),and Jim Carter,etc. can get them for you.That's where I bought gaskets and bearings for my '50 3100 3spd.
