Lots of aftermarket support to get them running outside of the original vehicle so with some money and time most all of the engine related stuff shouldn't be a problem.
For the rest of the truck consider better brakes and faster gears.

I got it after he passed 2 years ago, and i'm trying to get it back up and going. This is the truck I learned to drive on, and I hate to let it just sit and rot!!! | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | Should have plenty of room and I'd guess you can even turn up some aftermarket motor mounts to mostly bolt it in. After first buying the engine the electronics to make it run will probably consume the most money. You might find some good advice over on www.4btswaps.com, it's a site for diesel engine swaps of all types. Here's the section for Duramax swaps http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?38-General-Motors-V8-DieselsAlso should subscribe to Diesel Power Magazine if you don't already. Lots to learn there and ads from numerous vendors who can help you out. From what I gather PPE is one of the best/better places to go for Duramax swap stuff, here's a wiring harness from them Grigg | | | | | Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 48 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 48 | Thanks alot Grigg this is definetly be a project in the future. | | |
