I just bought a gmc 302 casting number 2194202,my question is is there provisions for a mechanical fuel pump? I can not see a cover plate unless it is under the side mount that is currently being used as a motor mount.
I would also like to know if the front plate under the timing gear cover can be exchanged for the one on my 248?
thanks for any info on this.

Check on the inliners sight. If you have a military block, there are no provisions for a mechanical pump. I know of one guy that had one machined in his military block because he wanted it to look more like the civillian engine. OLDGMCTRUCKS.COM is another great resource for information on the gmc 302 motors, or any gmc info.

There are several other mods that need to be done to the military 302 but it's worth it. As bigbadswingdaddy sez, oldgmctrucks.com has all the info. Join the discussion forums and search for "military 302"
