I looked over the vent window tech tip sheet and still don't get it... to me it does not appear that you can remove inner piece (that the glass attaches to). I took off the nut and spring but it doesn't look like the section will come out... see pic.

The replacement seal has only a hole, I don't really want to slit it to go around that stem... see pic.

Anyway, any help, suggestions appreciated.

I just replaced the seals on both of my vent windows last weekend, and the way I got the glass out of the frame was to drill out the two rivets that hold the outside pivot to the frame. After that you can pull the glass, replace the rubber seal and then rerivet or bolt the outside pivot back into place. I used a couple of 4-40 bolts on mineand the only trick was that you have to pull the rubber back out of the frame in the area near the pivot in order to get a small screwdriver in. Hope this helps.

I still don't understand how to remove that inner frame. Even if I remove the upper pivot (or outside pivot as you referred to it), I don't see how it would slip up and out from the bottom because of that washer thing (circled in pic), it's attached to that lower stem.

You didn't happen to picture catalog your steps did you?

No I didn't take any pictures of my work, but that washer will slide off the end of the shaft as you pull the glass up. It isn't attached to the shaft but only held in place by being pulled against the round portion of the shaft by the spring tension. It might be that it has been on there so long that you will have to tap it down lightly to break it free. Once you get it off you see that the washer is cut to match the end of the shaft with the two flats. I also had to drill out a rivet at the top and two at the bottom to remove the vertical portion of the frame (window channel) from the vent window frame so that I could get the new seal into the frame. The center wing should pull out of the center.The parts you have circled in the photo are like a washer or shim,make sure you put it back together in same order.

Ok got it!! I only had to remove the rivet at the upper pivot... rubber seal went on ok. Ill end up having to take passenger side apart again anyway cuz the handle stud was missing and the hole rusted...

Any recommendations on adhesive for the replacement felt that goes in that long channel?

When I replaced my vent window gaskets, I didn't need any adhesive for the weatherstrip in the long channel. I was able to simply pull out what I had, flip it end for end and push it back into the channel. It has really quieted the wind noise in my cab. If you do need adhesive, I think I'd try Goop brand clear automotive adhesive; it's available at most auto parts stores for about $5.00.

The window glide channel or division bar felt is a "friction-fit" and does not require adhesive. The door glass run channel, located in the upper and back edge of the door, is also a friction-fit and no adhesive is required.
