guys my 56' 1/2 ton panel has dead 283 and i have running 61' 235 but the 61' has different bellhousing because of hyd. throwout bearing. a friend has a 55' 235 that was in his 52' with 4spd. will this bellhousing work in my 56'? trying to stay local if i can thanks!

Glad to see you still around. wave

I think you need a bell housing with the angle from a 1955/62. The earlier years took different mounts. If I am wrong I am sure we will hear it!

Close to right, George. The change started in '54.

One other problem with the conversion if the truck was a factory 283. The radiator support is too far aft for the six cylinder engine. Since it also supports your fenders, you will have to cut it out, leaving the fenders supported and install another one in the 6 cylinder position.

truck is a factory 235 unit, somebody installed the 283 years ago. the mount for the trans does use a angled mount.

Cletis - the difference in the factory V8/6 cyl core support is position only, the support itself is the same, although the frame brackets have to be moved, cutting the factory rivets .... should be in the assembly manual

Right, the core support is the same. Where it mounts to the frame is different. You must leave the part that attaches to the frame and inner fenders in place or relocate the mount bracket on the frame.
