For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 15 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 15 | I bought two fenders on the west coast and I live on the east coast. The seller hasn't shipped anything that big before and I have never bought anything that big as well (this is my first restoration project). Can anyone recommend a reliable shipping company and some do's and don't for shipping? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 | Are you near a Greyhound bus station at both ends. That's the cheapest way. If not, put them on a pallet and wrap them and try these guys. http://www.freightquote.com/ | | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,780 | GREYHOUND EXPRESS LOCATIONS Greyhound will ship up to 100# and all you need to do is wrap them with bubble wrap or put them in a box. They should ship for less than $90 each, probably way less. Depends on distance. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | It's getting close to vacation time. You could drive out there a get them yourself. That's what I would be tempted to do. Then again with gas going up to $4.00 a gallon, perhaps not...

Like it was said above. You ship and receive at a bus station. So, you need to be close to one. They also need a phone number to call when it arrives. They will hold the parcel for three days - after that there will be a holding charge. I think it was a buck a day, here in Dallas.
Best of luck

And they like it better when the item is easily visible. Tape up sharp corners and let it ride! Driving from South Carolina to the West Coast and back! i had an entire Apache seat shipped from CA to MA for less than $60! It actually comes with a "bus ticket" that showed all the stops it made along the way, which makes a cool conversation piece or addition to the restoration documentation. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 2 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 2 | I sometimes use Fed Ex Home Delivery, it was cheaper to send running boards from Calif. to Texas. I did open an Fed Ex account at the local store to get great deals on shipping. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,002 | I also have shipped Fed Ex Home Delivery. I've parted several 60s trucks on ekbay shipping Fed Ex. The only parts that wouldn't go because of oversize charges were the doors and cowl vent. I'd wrap the parts tight in card board, fenders, horns, radiator support, etc..
