I purchased this truck in June 2009 in Elk Grove, CA and hauled it to my home in the SF Bay Area. It was originally employed by the American River Sand & Gravel Company of Sacramento, CA hauling sand, gravel & mortar (still has lots of white stuff stuck to the inside of the bed.) Later it was purchased and used by a walnut farmer in Knights Landing, CA and retired inside his barn from the mid 1950's until 1987. The guy I bought it from pulled it out of the barn and got it running again, but never got around to restoring it. So far during the past 5 months I've got new tires on it, replaced upholstery and done lots of grinding & sanding of old paint and rust plus a few other mechanical items. The dump bed still works and was made by Wood Hydraulic Hoist & Body Co. (also known as GarWood Industries - same guy that built all those old racing boats.) I've uploaded photos to this site: Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/41859403@N07/ Forgot to include some submission requirements: Owner : Craig Sihner Town: Castro Valley, CA email: sihn77@comcast.net

Its way cool .....and can earn its way if it has to! | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,317 Former Workshop Owner | Former Workshop Owner Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 2,317 | That is one cool '33 Big Bolt. It looks really solid, do you know if it always had single rear wheels, or was it originally a dually?

I've entertained the thought of someday putting it back to work for short hauls to Home Depot or a run to the dump. | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 11 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 11 | It is a dually. I have the extra wheels & tires in the bed right now. The tires I put on are a little too wide, so they won't mount together. To run with dually's I have to either get a spacer or different rims or go with skinnier tires. Any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 1 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 1 | Hello 33garwood, I am in the SFO bay area also and recently brought home two 1933 Chevrolet trucks. One is a 1/2 ton and the other is a 1 1/2 ton dually. I'm planning on restoring the 1/2 ton and use the 1 1/2ton as a parts truck since there are some common parts. I have restored a few WWII Military vehicles in the past, but this is my first attempt at an early Chevy truck. 1933 Chevy 1/2 ton | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 11 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 11 | Hey EJOWest -
Those photos look familiar. I didn't think there were many other 33's out there. A parts truck helps, though mine is fairly complete. Still there are lots of things to restore. We should exchange emails & phone #'s to discuss parts & restoration tips. | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 33 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 33 | Hey Garwood,
Beautiful truck! I am restoring my second '33 right now. I am in desperate need of a driver side door. I will send you pics of my restored dumptruck to give you a little motivation.

Do you have one for sale by any chance? I appreciate the help and am happy to find two new friends who are building '33 Chevy trucks! I am in Maine so we probably won't see eachother at the dump.

I am trying to get mine back on the road and looking for a cylinder head for the 207. Appreciate a note if anyone has a spare of runs across an extra.
