Has anyone used herculiner on a frame for protection against rust?
I'm not looking for show quality when I'm done...but I do want to have the option to sell it down the road and not put something on it that would cause it's value to diminish.

I did once. MISTAKE!!!
Too soft of a coating. Dirt, sand and rocks stuck in and to it. Looked awfull after a summer of use. I didn't care for the grayish look.

I just used Zero-Rust. If you look in the tech section of this site, there's a whole write-up on it. Cheaper than POR 15, seems to work just as well. It's basically a paint with 50% solids, about $62/gal delivered. Dries semi-gloss black.

There's really not anything you can do for the frame short of a good blasting and an epoxy paint job. If you use bedliner on your frame and a rock chips it the rust will begin at that spot. I did put a thin coat of Hurculner on the underside of my cab, fenders and running boards.

Used HERCULINER on under cab and underside of fenders also. Was very happy with the RESULTS  

I would not use it on the frame. 
I used Eastwoods rattle can frame paint. But if I had to do it over I would just use rustolium satin black sprayed with my cheap harbor freight purple hplv gun. I've had good results with spraying thinned rustolium on the inner fenders and rad support. 

The Eastwood extreme chassis black rattle can paint I used was expensive, took forever to dry, and overspray can be a big problem. 

I don't live in an area where rust is a problem
