guys,
i have a buddy with a 58 apache and he's wanting to move his current firewall boosted master cylinder back under to the factory position on the frame, to clean up the firewall.
he is running a standard transmission and said through his searches they are saying it wont work.
do any of you have a frame mounted power booster with a manual transmission ?
is there anything special that you had to do to run the clutch linkage ?
thanks much.

I have a frame mounted booster in my 59 gmc. The only clearance issue was with the ebrake cable. There is a pully that needs to be relocated about 3 inches further back on the frame. My truck has a very large 5 speed (NV4500) and Pontiac V8. I have to point out the factory positioning for the chevy and gmc V8s were different, with the gmc v8 being about 4 inches further forward. I can not see this being any type of factor.

I have the aftermarket booster/master located in the stock position with a 3 sp OD trans. There are no clearance problems and everything works fine. 56 through 59 are basically the same. If they converted the clutch pedal to match the MC swing pedal he will have to locate all the original parts to change it back. The stock pedal and related parts should bolt right in if they haven't hashed up the frame too much. If it still has the original through the floor clutch pedal there would be no change to the clutch linkage.
