Hello again - some advice, mostly for those less experienced. I finally got a matching set of bias 8.25x20's assembled om 6.5 rims for the rear of the 58 Spartan I'm working on. The difficulty was finding a 4th tire with close dimensions. Assume nothing when searching your local yards/tire dealers for used tires. 8.25x20 marked on the tire means nothing, except that it will fit on your rim. Bring a nice flexible narrow metal tape measurer with you (or a tire caliper if you have one)and bring dimensions of the tires you already have with you. Measure circumference (all the way around on the tread); measure heighth; even measure tread width, so that your tire set doesn't look too cobbled. Tires aired up may show a little more height - account for that. A little difference between your tires is OK - I'm not an expert on tolerances, but I wouldn't use anything that was off more than 1/2" in height and no more than 1" in circumference - you could prob. get away with a little more variance, but I don't know enough to say that with confidence. I found tires that were as much as 6" diff. in circum. and 2.5" in height; and 1.5" diff. in tread width. Also watch out for tires that have been mounted on too wide a rim, as this could 'contort' a tire in a way that makes it hard to get a true measurement. You may ask who has time for this, but if you have a little time you can get some very nice tires for next to nothing - many already mounted, if the rims are right. If they're on wrong rims, avoid them unless you have proper heavy tire changing equipment. Either buy them on proper matching rims or buy them unmounted. No sense in making a ton of work for yourself. To gain a couple of rims, I sawed old tires off at both sidewalls near the rim, with a Sawzall; then used an angle grinder with a metal cutting disc to cut thru the last of the rubber and the metal cords.
