Gallon Evapo-Rust™ Rust Remover Thanks | | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 293 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 293 | I didn't get it from Harbor Freight, but I used Evapo Rust and was very happy with it. I have an old engine that had some rust, but had never been painted, and still has the factory Ink Pen markings. It cleans all the rust, leaves it a natural cast color, and never disturbed the Ink Marks. works nice if you have some cad plated pieces that need cleaned up. Also, not toxic. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | I am going to use this product a lot. Not only does it remove rust but it doesn't harm other metals. You can put part assemblies in it and not worry about the brass or aluminum. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 45 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 45 | I tried it about 2 weeks ago on my chrome reverse wheels , had alittle rust starting between the wheel stud holes where the chrome must be thinner . Works great and didnt hurt the chrome , wish I had a large vat of the stuff I'd dip my whole cab ! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 81 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 81 | | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . I spent about eighty bucks on a concentrate that was supposed to make 10 gallons of rust remover. It did remove rust if you left it over night but after a small amount of rust removal it quit working.
Lately I've been using Behr concrete etch with phosphoric acid. It removes rust, plating and paint if left long enough. And it keeps on removing it. The parts come out looking like they just came out of the press at the stamping plant. Problem is Behr took the acid out of the product last year and I can't find anyone that sells phosphoric acid anymore for a reasonable price. I'd like to get about 10 gallons of it to dip larger parts in like upper and lower grill baffels, core suppports, exhaust manifolds, brake drums, etc. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL
