Here is my latest engine pictures. I am pretty happy but it seems when you take pictures you see all of the things that you need to fix?

Let me know what you think!

Only 1 thing I'd do-add some wire separators to the plug wires. That'll clean things up nicely and prevent crossfire in the wires. Get some good ones from Accel or Mallory, they come in several colors and are made better than the cheapie ones that you see at the flaps.
Question-what did you use to do the rocker and side covers? The look awesome!

I had side and valve cover powder coated silver and then transucent blue (the shop called it bentley blue). I turned out pretty good.

Thanks for the advice I'll add the wire seperators. I have the cheap ones that the wires came with on but I think it could look a lot cleaner.

Good looking work!! Have you stuck up the radiator/core support to check on fan clearance with the later model engine?

Great looking frame!! I like the silver!!! Too bad more of it won't show after you hang the sheet metal. The intake looks great...I just finished polishing mine...hands are still sore.

Looks like you've got a plan and it's going to be a good looking rig when the rubber hits the road!!! Thanks for sharing.

Dave,

I have had the radiator/core support up and if you'll notice my harmonic balancer isn't mounted yet. Interesting to find out my engine had a double pulley setup on it. When I used Patricks short water pump my fan hit the harmonic balancer with a considerable margin. Patrick is manufacturing new harmonic balancers and I am in line to get one. With the new balancer everything will fit nice and snug and the fan will clear the balancer.

Thanks for the comments!

Just a thought....if you were to put on an adaptor plate behind the old style water pump you'd raise the fan up to the center of the radiator. I tried the "short pump route" gave me a little extra clearance but left the fan low (off-center) and I experienced fan interference with the balancer. The adaptor plate moves the fan up about 3".(You have about 1/2" under the thermostat housing) I have that setup on my 235 and my 15" six blade Flex-fan clears the stock balancer.

The adaptor plate is $40.00, an early pump $50. from NAPA....wonder what Patrick is going to ask for his balancer? Might be something to check into!!!

An added benefit to the adaptor plate route, is that you can buy a replacement water pump at any local parts house. Would hate to be sitting beside the road waiting for a UPS truck to deliver my "special" pump!!! Check it out!

Are you running dual pipes all the way? I see that most of the aftermarkets all have two outlets....and I haven't gotten my mind around how a new exhaust on my truck would work.

(As you all know better than I, the current exhaust manifold comes to a single outlet.)

Yes, I am running dual exhuast. This is Patricks Stainless Steel setup. If you would like more pictures please let me know.

ohhh ... you have to have split headers to get the dual outlet. There are couple of options to get dual outlets.
1. Have your original exhuast header split
2. After market headers (Clifford / Fenton)

There are plenty of topics on either option. Just do a search here and you'll be overwhelmed with information.

I thought I 'invented' the 'over-up' for the shift lever did your shifter come like that or did you think it up? Anyway it's a really good way to get the shift lever away from your leg and into the middle of the floor. Everything looks great, congrats!!!

Very nice work chev235! Are the carbs the Holley Webers or something else? See you have the spun air cleaners like mine. Is the intake an Offy? I see that you have elected to use exhaust heat rather than hot water heat. Nice Job!

49 geezer,
The carbs are Carter/Webers from Langdon. The Intake is an Offy and I decided to use exhuast heatr just because I was worried about making it leak proof.

Thanks!

I like it! Educate me. What are "spun air cleaners"?
