Does any one know of a reputable engine rebuilder willing to work on my 235 6?? I've called a couple of places in the DFW area -- they do not want to touch it. Would prefer one in north Texas.

Did you try City Motor Supply or Andrews?

I see you are in McKinney. Plano Machine Shop, in Plano will do the work. They are located on 14th street (by the Dart rail tracks) in downtown Plano.

By the way. Are you looking for someone to just do the machine work. To machine the block and valve seat replacement and you do the knockdown and rebuild, or complete overhaul?

I've had them do some work for me. They did my king pins.

Otherwise, I believe Dallas Motors on Harry Hines will do a rebuild.

I have also heard there is a place in Fort Worth that specializes in our vintage motors. But don't know the name of the place.

I had my engine machine work and assembly done about ten yars ago by Wayne Calvert in Denton. Wayne used to race 235-261 engines back in his early days and knows the engines and where to get performance parts. The number is: 940.382.6815.

I am now rebuilding a 235 that went into my 61 pickup. The machine work was done by Plano Auto Supply and I will recoommend them. I had them do the work over two years ago but then got busy with pther things and so the engine was put on hold. When I got back around to it the camshaft was too tight, I believe it was due to slag from the dope to seal the freeze plug by the cam bearing. They took the engine after two years with no charge to me and fixed it.

I took my 235 to Johnson County Auto in Cleburne. Wendel is an old timer who has rebuilt many 235's. He has a hot-rod 235 in one of his Cruisers. His number is 817-645-2401.
