| | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 | You will need a V-8 flywheel and bellhousing. None of the 235 stuff can be used for the conversion. You can use the SM420 trans. Pick up a V-8 bellhousing from a 55-59/63-67 truck. You may also need the rear crossmember from a TF or 60's truck as the bellhousing mounts to the crossmember. You can get the side mount aftermarket tubular crossmember from a number of suppliers.

There should be lots of them around. Post an add in the swap meet and you should get some responses.

For the under-the-bellhousing crossmember, put an ad in the "parts wanted" forum and see if you can find somebody who has converted a V-8 truck body to a later model frame. They might be willing to make a deal on the crossmember you need. The 48 crossmember won't accept the V-8 bellhousing mounts. Up front, you'll need an aftermarket tubular crossmember to adapt to the side mounts on the V-8.
