I have a pointer on my 1955/235 engine and a window over the starter motor but where the "H" is the ball or timming mark...the only thing I can really see is the smooth face as I pulled the engine around 360 and then a thing that looks like an arch or eyebrow on the surface showed up...is that where the ball was or what the heck is that thing....Thanks yet Again, Steve

I had a girlfriend once that had eyebrows that looked like triangles! Stuart

I know about the triangle that's the wrong mark that's for valve adj...the timing mark is suppose to be a ball or a circle....so what is this thing on my fly-wheel and old mechanic's mustache that was torn off....Steve

There also was a triangle mark off to the side, which I've heard is not the timing mark (it obviously wasn't in my case).
Now for some white "touch up" paint on the ball.

It'll be somewhere within just a few degrees of there. You'll feel the ball easier than see it until you find it & get it cleaned up there. Doug

Turn flywheel with screwdriver until you can see the ball and lines clockwise on the flywheel. Clean them good and put a small dab of white paint on the ball and first line clockwise. Turn engine by hand over till rotor points to #1 pulg and see if it lines up on the ball or first line. Thats where most of them time best too. Depends upon which Motors manual you read and internal modifications.
