Can someone help me identify these horns? Got them from a used parts dealer. I have a 1953 3600, and I was thinking of using them on the firewall as shown in the Chevy Accessory manual.

But I am baffled by the brackets. From a car? BTW, note that one says "LO" but the other has no similar ID. Also, one wire seems to go to a screw post, the other horn it comes out from under the case.

One should be high and one lo,I don't know if the high note one is marked high or not.I'm not sure about the brackets.

Tim, let me throw another wrinkle in here. I have seen several pix of stock 1953 216 ci engines with a single clamshell horn mounted on the intake manifold. The pair on the firewall was an accessory, as I understand it, and is treated as such in the Chevy Accessory Manual.

One of these pictures does look like a possible manifold mounting bracket. But that's the one marked "Lo." Maybe someone knows about these? Thanks!

From 1947-1952, there was a set of accessory dual horns (seashell style) available for all trucks.

In 1953, the accessory horn came as one horn only, a high note horn (the other, low tone horn was standard).

Here is a description from the 1953 Chevrolet Truck Data Book. The accessory dual-mounting bracket is different from that used in earlier years.

Do you have a 1953 version of the accessory installation instructions? Does it should the dual horns being mounted on the firewall in 1953 (as was the case in earlier years)?

I pulled a pair of similar looking horns off the firewall above the engine valve cover-pass side- and they were stock...
on my firetruck, they are under the radiator ft cover, the assy manual shows them bolted to the sides of the rad support...
I guess it depends on where and what year it was built....

Tim, thank you SO much. I have looked at the 1951 accessory installation manual - which might or might not be the same as 1953. They go into quite some detail about the dual firewall mounting, but I don't think they mention moving the standard manifold mount. So, now I can see that one horn was a standard Lo with a manifold mount.

BTW, the present horn is an aftermarket klaxon type, mounted on the driver side firewall, which probably would not be correct in any case.

So I have several choices if I want to use the clamshell(s). If my other horm is "Hi" and if I can get proper brackets, I can mount them both on the firewall as per the Chevy book. Or I can try to find a matching "Hi" horn. Or, I can just mount the one "Lo" on the manifold and let it go at that. I don't think I would have figured this out without your help. Appreciate it.
