On a Task Force 1/2-ton, were there different radiator locations depending on the engine (V8 or L6), like on the cars?
I am asking this because I am thinking of adding A/C to my truck: the Vintage Air online instructions show V8 and L6 radiator core supports, but the GM Factory Assembly Manual does not seem to show 2 locations...
My truck has a Camaro front clip and a 250ci L6 engine, but all the parts at the front look pretty stock to me (rad support, cover, panels on each side of the rad...).
Also, could someone give me the dimensions of the core of a stock rad? I think mine may not be as tall as stock...
Pictures of what a stock rad/support... looks like would be great too!

the 55-57 had a setback positon for rads on V8 trucks to keep the same space fan-to-rad .... this shows the setback with the extra sheet metal piece at the top to fill the space [there's additional pieces at bottom] .... the actual core support is the same, just set back .... the 58-9 was the same rad position with a shroud on the V8, slightly different core support from 5-7, same rad .... the 55-59 rads are about 21" sq for the finned area with the tank adding about 3-4" more height

regardless of the clip, your rad support has to be basically original in order to support and position all the front sheet metal .... I've seen an assembly manual page of the V8 setup, but can't find it just now

Good, so now I know I have the stock rad support and the rad in the L6 engine position.
My rad does not seem stock, though, the top of the tank is barely above the top bar of the rad support... It does look very OEM and fits well, but... Where there different rads available, maybe?
Anyone can give me the actual dimensions of the core of a stock rad, so I can make sure the A/C condenser from a kit would fit properly?
I like that fan shroud you showed, I may have to look for one! Or make one like it...

I gave'em to ya, finned area near 21" wide and the top tank is 3+".... the bottom of the top tank should be flush with the top bar of the core support if the original side mount pieces are attached to the support correctly - nother pic ... wouldn't be a suprise if the top tank had been replaced in the last 50 years, or if the PO that did the clip mounted it on the core different to suit the non-original engine/fan position

the shroud on the 58 is very close to correct original for the truck, but came off a 60's car - if the fan is within an inch of the rad, a shroud isn't needed

Sorry, in your first answer, I thought you said the core area was 21 square inches, not 21 inches by 21 inches!!
