Jack up the axle, but leave the tire close to the ground. Have a helper pry the wheel up with a pry bar (just enough to make it move, not compress the spring) and watch the spindle/axle point. There should be no movement between the two.
Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

If just the wheel & drum move it,s the wheel brgs. You can snug up the spindle nut to get a better feel.

If the king pins are worn out so are the bushings. They have almost the same effect as worn king pins but are harder to check by hand.
