hopefully someone can help me with this. i am putting a th 350 in my 66 c10. my problem is i dont have a crossmember for it. and i cant afford to spend $100 on a new one. I would like to build one. I dont know anything about transmissions, someone told me the trans has to be at just the right angle to work right so it doesnt go through u joints fast. my question is how do i find that angle. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put a straight edge across the bottom of your frame and measure up to the centre of the output shaft on your old tranny. Build a mount out of round pipe and bend it to fit onto the mount on your new tranny. Set your new tranny up at the same height as the old one first. You can weld some flat plates on the ends of the pipe to bolt to your frame. Just make good welds.

Oh! OH!!!
What tranny was in it?
I'll measure mine when the rain stops and it gets light out.

look at the 700r4 install, which I think has all of the info that you require and a lot simpler than making a round pipe one

Good link Ron. Monsoon quit for a second. The centre of my tranny to the bottom of the frame is 5.5 inches.
I've used the crossmember out of a camaro, nova or impala up to 1980 also as a cheap tranny mount.

For what its worth here... I put a 350 in my 64 C20 about 25 years ago. All I did was put a piece of 3\4 x 2 flatbar in the bottom rail of the frame and the trans mount sits right on top. Been working fine all this time.Bolted it to the frame and off I went.

The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
