A good friend of mine is a Special Agent In Charge for the Virginia DMV and he has asked for assistance in locating a stolen 1929 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup (bright yellow). I know it's a Ford, but I hope there's a way to activate the thousands of Stovebolt members to be on the lookout for this truck.

Peggy should have a picture uploaded in the future. Any info should be reported to Tim Woods from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 540-483-6615.

Napco man, I'm sorry to here this.
Someone on the Va HAMBers forum recently had a car stolen too.

Apparently there's been a spate of thefts in Va. concerning 'older' vehicles.
Sadly his car was scrapped,I sincerely hope this is not the fate of this one too.

Funny you post this, I spoke with the owner of the vehicle yesterday. He has a nice collection of vehicles and I saw this vehicle 6 months or so ago. Very cool and unique. Hopefully it will turn up sooner than later and hopefully still together....

Someone should contact Hemmings. They have had some success with exposing these kinds of thefts. I think it is because of their wide distribution.

I'm just above Franklin Co.

What are the details of the stolen Model A?

I'll be keeping my eyes open.

Thanks for the help guy's. I don't know all the details, but you'll know this truck if you see it. There should be a pic posted soon, but until then, if you see a bright yellow model A pickup with a rag top, chances are it's the one they're looking for.

Thanks again, George

Thanks for the insight--if I see it, I will squawk. Not like if you saw that vehicle you wouldn't notice.

not if you re-titled it and sold it in another state.

Since I have posted, I have also seen it covered on our local news Channel 10 in Roanoke. It's been on at least 3 times now.

That's impressive and unusual to get that coverage I think. Owner has connections maybe. Hope it doesn't scare the theives so much that they take it to the woods and torch it. frown

He could have some connections, but actually stolen vehicles around here are kind of rare and it's kind of the norm to get coverage on something like that.

Here is the actual TV 10 video on it:

wow, if you get anything stolen around here the cops just tell you to contact your insurance company-most cops here won't even write a report on an old vehicle.

Sad but true,it's the same here,a few years back my friend saw his immaculate VW Cabriolet being driven away down his street and the cops weren't interested.
Unfortunately, the car was never seen again.
It was probably parted out as they are rare beasts over here.

What about an APS for this, imagine how big a net could be made around the car in a matter of minutes. There could be one for classics and hot rods and another for everything else. Corvette clubs to have one too. Maybe too many alerts would turn a deaf ear. Just a thought.

These alerts are helpful even if they don't result in the recovery of the vehicle. They tend to make us more aware of what can happen to our "pride and joy" if we don't take steps to protect her. A great thread to start would be, How do you, or what do you use to keep your Bolt safe?

A few months back, a man up near LA was gone for a couple of days, and when he returned home, his Porsce and 60 Corvette were gone. The police saw the Porsche a few days later and run it down, but the driver got away. They found the 60 about a week later in a container at the LA Harbor, heading for Australia. When you watch some of these shows on TV and see all of the interest in US cars offshore, it sure makes for a whole new market for no so nice people.
