The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop balanced flywheel help

i'm puttin a th350 tranny on my 59 283 engine, the donor motor that the tranny was on is a 76 350, the end of the crank has a oblong flange, i guess it's a balance for the crank, the 59 283 motor crank doesn't have this at all just the round flange, the flywheel that bolts to the converter doesn't have any weights on it so i guess it isn't balanced, will this cause a problem if i just bolt up the tranny to the engine with the setup from the 76 motor, or do i need to get an after market balanced flywheel??

It'll work. The 350's all have a shape like that. The only ones externaly balanced are the 400's & 86 up. If it was one of those it would have a weight on the flywheel/flexplate.
