correct two position switch...

I am kinda sorta confused. I've read so much info on this site, I've forgotten what I read!! Did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. I am in search of a two position switch for my 55 1st that is a 12v conversion. I need both pieces, ignition lock and switch. My question is this, can I use a 6v switch or does it have to be 12v? Electrical is where it starts turning Japanese on me. Thanks!

6v or 12v won't matter to the ignition switch but it might matter to how it'll fit the dash, so what you're looking for is an ignition switch to fit a 55 1st .... American Classic lists one for 54/55
