1937 1/2 ton. I removed the cowl vent rubber and installed a new one. The vent now sits very acceptable. Removing 3M Super Adhesion not fun. I then installed the carb. linkage for 700R4 and throttle cable. Will install the trottle pedal tomorrow.

after much debate on swapping my torque tube rear end out for my 1951 frame off restoration ( with some exceptions) i finally decided just to keep my stock rear axle and ordered the 3.55 gears just now.

WooHoo!
The .080" oversize pistons and rings arrived at my door yesterday.
The bored and cleaned block should be ready by tomorrow.
Seems like it's taken forever but it appears I'm finally on the upside of my 261 engine rebuild.
I'm ready for some bearings!

Bummer Alvin.

I'm working on restoring my vent window assemblies. They're pretty rough but salvageable. Also found out my left rear bumper bracket took a good wallop sometime between 1953 and now.

The farmer rigged aftermarket wiper motor in my burb quit so today I tried to mount the rebuilt "54 GMC electric motor" I bought off ebay several years ago for my '54 pickup project. It doesn't bolt up. I think I can still use it if I build a mount but I want to run it before I drill the mount holes to be sure there's no binding. But I need a 6V power supply to do it. It won't be here until next week. So I'm dead in the water with pieces scattered.

The chrome had blistered real bad and I was going to take it apart and get it rechromed. Several screws twisted off but lets just say one of the screws was not coming out till I got agressive with it. Behind the chrome blisters the frame was rotted so bad I will not even mess with trying to repair it. This is going to be costly....but what ain't these days?

After a year long battle with several docs to get a correct diagnosis of a sinus infection and several months of heavy antibiotics I am feeling human again. Made a BIG order of goodies, dropped of the generator at a local shop with, excellent references, tomorrow will be at the OEM paint store to see if they can mix me the correct color of paint (this should take a while and no I am not telling what color yet) so I can shoot the interior and firewall soon. Not the best time of year, but I have not felt this good in a long time considering I may be back on more meds after I go back to the docs.

Called the machine shop to see if by 261 block was ready. He gave a sad story and said not yet. Thank goodnes I'm in no hurry.
By the way, I asked if he checked the milled surface... the asnswer was no, but he will. Hmmm
Bought the 261 head from my buddy Allan McGee (fellow stovebolter) and feel at least I've made SOME progress today.
I keep telling myself "baby steps... baby steps..."

Spent day on my back on cab floor staring at a jumble of wires and cables and braces trying to figure out how to get the tiny nuts off the clusters to get the clusters out. A little concerned I'll mess something up. Age and size were not helpful. Any good ideas, or just try try try?

If you are going to be spending a great deal of time under there I would suggest you remove the seat. That would help a great deal. Also an old pillow might help your comfort.

It's 20 degrees here with a wind chill of -10. Not enough heat in the garage to overcome that! I will just "imagine" that I'm out there workin' on my truck. I can see it now - got the horn bracket fabbed up ready for mounting, got the windshield crank out ready for repair. Need to check out the cowl vent lever arm and see what is causing it not to close good ........................................... Does this count???

I bought a complete (I hope) set of stainless hardware for the AD truck. Each package is individually labeled so I took a sheet of plywood (2'x4') and stapled each package on it so I can find what I'm looking for quickly. I also have the bed sides bolted loosely and ready to square up. I made some measurements and see it is about a quarter inch off but measuring my myself is risky so I'll wait for my son to return before finishing.

Went and hung out with the upholsterer this afternoon.

Here is what he did while I was there. Wednesday I should have the truck back all done.

to dang cold out 8 degrees with 20+ wind.
just finished up tonight and i got the heater repaired. i had to flush it really good with water and compresses air it was full of junk.

added new heater hoses and used a old vacuum cleaner hose to fix the defroster ( i know it's redneck don't bash me! )

changed the radiator hoses and replaced the thermostat and flushed the radiator and now it runs better and the antifreeze aint brown no more.

In process of getting my '53 on the road after a long slumber. Front and rear brakes are rebuilt and my next task is to tackle rebuilding the master cylinder.

Its been so cold here lately I am going though Stovebolt withdrawls so I put on a jacket and braved the cold for about 5 minutes and scraped some loose paint off the bed rails. I long for the next 55 degree plus day...I have some sand blasting to do

removed the running boards and sold them to a fellow memeber...someone decided it would be a good idea to weld them onto the brackets(that was a pain). removed the running board aprons and also sold them off to another member. Cut out the driver side rear cab corner "repair" that has misterously rotted through again..(fiberglass and filler...no big surprise).
