They go up, get to their topmost point, then won't go back down until you get out and push them down. I figure it's just a little bit of rust or tightness in the wiper mechanism (beneath the cowling, don't know the right name for it). So I removed the cowling and sprayed some WD40 on all the joints and hinges. So now, second time out in the raid the drivers side blade seems reluctant to move back and forth and the passenger side is flailing about wildly. A couple miles down the road, the arm on the passenger side comes free from the stub protruding from the cowling and the driver side breaks the plastic connector between the arm and the blade. So, fun drive. Anyway, the arms are pretty beat up looking and both blades are broken now (i may or may not have run over the passenger side blade when it fell off) I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the blades and arms from LMC, and also what recommendation you have for freeing up the under-cowling mechanism? | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 38 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 38 | Can't speak for the LMC parts but if you need the transmission arms or a good single speed motor (or both) I have a spare set from my rebuild.

I tried to replace the wiper arms on my truck and I've found that the left attachment knob has been distorted so that it cannot hold the wiper arm firmly. I used "Liquid Wrench" on it instead of WD40...silenced them right up, and I drove it for a year and a bit, and it sat out in the rain, snow sometimes. If they are clocked incorrectly, they will damage the transmission arms, wiper arms or blades. I purchased a set that rusted & fell off several times even when not in use. I gave up & bought a set from NAPA. I bought a set of TRICO 51's( http://www.tricoproducts.com/brochure.cfm?brochure=225&location_id=10 ) These are made of unpolished solid stainless, no cheap chrome plating, they are adjustable for length & can be selected for right & left side use. You add your own wiper blades and can even buff them to a shine if you want. Have not had a problem since.

Glad to be of service. I am using the Trico Arm P/N 51-250 but I don't recall the wiper blade part numbers.
I have really been pleased with the Trico's. They are built for use rather than looks but they should buff up nicely if so inclined.
