Is there something you should put on welds to seal them up? I'm talking about places like the seams in the floorpan etc where water might get through a pinhole and cause you grief. I did my best, went through with a light and made sure everything was solid, but I have read about people "sealing" welds...
Thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 239 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 239 | You might be able to use a small amount of body putty to cover the pin holes. However, I would be sure your shielding gas is working correctly.
Once you have the panels welded and sanded down, there should not be any holes. As far as sealing... seal it as you would any bare metal.

Nice thing is they remain flexible and won't crack or fall out as the body flexes over time. | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 554 | Seam sealer. It works well in the welded seams and I can't see any reason you couldn't use it in other hidden areas. Lots of different types available. I used the brushable stuff from Eastwoods. Mask off any areas you don't want it or you can have quite a mess. Chuck | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 126 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 126 | Thanks, I'll get some then. I don't think I have any holes, but none the less, it would be easy to miss one. I would hate to see a nice little rust blossom a year after I busted my butt fixing all the old rust! | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 219 | Vetter panel adhesive witch is a fine fiberglass or NAPA Metal to Metal they are both expensive but are waterproff. You can use it on the exterior sheet metal before filler and then there is no worry about water coming in from under your welds and spoiling things
Good luck Len
