The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot '60-'66 Trucks Painted area around grill

There is about a two inch area around the grill that is sometimes painted white and sometimes painted the color of the vehicle. I've seen just as many one way as I have the other. So my question is, which way did it come from the factory, or did it come either way.

What year, make, nodel?
Chrome or painted grill?
Can you post a link or two to photos in the Gallery?

I got 2 64's, one green/ivory one light blue/ivory-both had the white stripe around the grille area.

The all-ivory '64 truck did not.

Thanks 64fleetside, after doing a little more research it does appear that the 60-66 trucks came from the factory with the white stripe. I see a lot of newly painted vehicles where that detail is somehow overlooked.

i always thought if they were painted the same color as truck it was a repaint. it seems to make the grille pop out better, but i have to admit on my 63 and 64 i didn't do it when i painted them.

On the 60-66 trucks depending what make and model it was they all came with white on them. If you ordered a top of the line model they came with all the stainless pieces. I remember if you ordered certain inside cab accesseries back then you got the Grill,Cab side plates, Eyebrows etc. in stainless.

The Off-White accent around the outer circle of the grille support, was standard on all light-duty Chevy trucks from '60-'66, with the exception of the trucks, that were painted White. The backdrop of the grille support was painted Black in semi-gloss sheen. This information is pulled from the Truck Sales Data books from '60-'66.
