Im in the process of restoring my 53 1/2 ton and I'm thinking of converting to disc brakes. I would like to use the original 16 inch rims, has anyone done this conversion successfully with the orginal rims, that seems to be the stipulation that applys when selling the kits. thx

Kent, I'm in Santa Rosa Northern California. There is a brake supplier here who can still get NOS asbestos brake pads and shoes. Whatever direction you go with your project, using asbestos friction is like adding a power booster compared to "organic" friction. I know that because I did it on my street rod, a SBC powered '32 Ford roadster. I was astonished at the results.
