The GMC 228 oil bath air filter that I have won't fit on the 2 bbl carb on my GMC 302. The diameter on the 302 Carb is 2 5/8" at the top of the Carb. The diameter of the raised ridge that the filter clamps to is 3 3/16".

I'm guessing that the correct oil bath filter is going to be very hard to find. I'd like to find a paper element filter for the time being, just so I can finally get the truck on the road. Any suggestions where I can find a filter?

Thanks Dave, that will give me another option. I was also told today that a 1964 Dodge paper filter assembly from a 2 bbl 318 or 383 will work. So tommorrow it's off to the junkyards.

I can live with the F word under the hood if that's what it takes to get my truck on the road.

2-5/8 is the size of Rochester 2gc carburetors used on 50's-70's GM V-8's.A search of Ebay found many 2bbl oil bath aircleaners for less than $35 in completed auctions. There are several up for auction right now, just avoid the the rare collector items.

Problem solved.

I found a paper element type air filter off of a 64 Dodge w/ 318 and 2 bbl which fits. $10
