Hi All,
I would like to install a water temp. and oil pressure gauge under the dash of my 1954 235 chevy pu. The orginals need to be overhauled but for right now I'd like to install a small set. I would like them mechanical and non-illuminate. I guess I can install the water temp sender in the block where the old one is but what about the oil sender... where should that go as it has a tube to the guage? Any thoughts or suggestions send them my way! THANKS, Steve

Your original also has a copper tube to it. Use it on the new guage.

The electric gauges are much better & more accurate. You can put the temp sender in where the factory gauge is, although you may need an adapter fitting. The oil sender goes in like 53 pit says. If you want to keep the factory gauge you can get a 1/8 in. pipe thread T at the hardware store or parts house.

OK...I'm corn-fused...I get the idea with the water sender but... I don't get where to go with the oil line sender....the reason I'm not using electric is that the wire loom needs more work and we will attack that when we have the orginal guages rebuilt...sorry about the dumb questions but the truck is 150 miles from where I live so I have to do most of the question work by memory and I just can't remember where the oil hook up would be...THANKS! The oil pressure comes from an oulet on the drivers side of the engine down low just behind the exhaust pipe. There will be a fitting with a tube going to the gauge. If it has an oil filter there will be a t with a line going to the side of the filter. The line on the bottom of the filter goes to a return on the side of the engine.

Hey Gabster,
THANKS for the help! Now that I know where to look I will see the set up and it should be clear. YES, my 235 has an orginal oil filter canister. I guess all I need do is to follow out where the oil sender is now and then attatch the new one in its place. I'm also going to move the gas filter as it comes right out of the carb and over the exhaust manifold...its original right from chevy that way. New metal in-line on the other side of engine should do the trick...cooler there ...if you have any other ideas please pass them on to me and THANKS, Steve

Speaking of gauges if I end up replacing mine does anyone one have a source? I have found all others but gas gauges.

Haneline does not carry SW gauges. ....Kragen has a line of gauges that look pretty clean and they are mechanical. I think they are called Eqquis...has anyone ever used this brand? THANKS, Steve
