Yesterday I got the 235 engine from the '60 chevy truck that will replace the 235 engine in my '55 chevy truck. There are some differences in the two engines. The '60 has a hydraulic clutch, longer water pump and is 12 volt versus 6 volt. It looks like the bellhousings and the water pumps are interchangeable. I'll convert my '55 to 12 volt. Is there any other issues that I'll need to address? Thanks for your suggestions.

There may be a difference in the way the bell crank for the gas pedal is situated. Someone else will comment. Also, the flywheel ring gear should have a different pitch on the 12 v motor.

Use the bellhouseing from the 55. The 12 and 6 volt flywheel differ in the tooth count and will not cross swap so if you use the 12 volt wheel use the 12 volt starter. They make a water pump adapter to use the older style water pump on the later engine so the fan comes out in the correct place on the rad. Useing the latter model pump puts the fan low on the rad and dose'nt do as good a job moveing air as it should. The adpter sell for about 40$. I assume this is a early model 55.
