Drag axles were added by cutting the back spring hanger off and hanging the equalizer on the spring. Neway was the most popular drag axle and it used a 20k trailer axle. I have never seen a drag axle like this one with a square axle. I would say that that it is some odd ball axle and the hubs fit it and nothing else. C&H is active in the salvage business, but many of the old vehicles have been sitting around for years and the people who knew a little about them have retired. It is probably a older than the truck. But I think you might be right that it is a Dayton adapter. However, I know of no way of figuring out what kind of hub was used on that square axle other than measuring the bolt circle. As far as that goes, I don't see any lug nuts where it would be bolted to the original hub. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 | Yeah Ken ,I had a '48 Chevy 2 ton conventional once, with one of those Truxmore setups, on it. Remembered that square axle. I didn't notice the ad with the description in it. I blew the photo up extra large, & it looks like you can see a lug nut at the lower edge of the axle. Can't tell much more from that angle. | | |
