Hi! First, I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this post, it seemed closer than the electrical bay. I have a 1961 C20 and my speedometer is giving me a lot of trouble. What happens is, it waves back and forth. It has happened before, i disconnected the cable from the tranny and gauges, stuck a bag over it like a funnel full of PB spray lube and spun the cable from the transmission end until PB came through. this worked. But it happened again, wavering back and forth from 5mph-80mph when i was going about 45mph. I gave it the same treatment and it got a little better (20mph-40mph when going about 30) but not much. Is my speedometer stripped? the tranny? cable? any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks -- Hunter

a better fix would be to pull the inner piece out, so you can actually clean it, and flush the outer sheath with the cable out, then lube it lightly and reassemble .... nothing is stripped, but it could be that the speedo head itself is equally gummed up

thanks, i'll do that first chance I get, i was hesitant to pull the inner piece out in fear that i couldnt get it back in
