I worked on my 52 3600 over the thanksgiving holidays a little. I bought a new six volt coil, six volt battery, spark plugs and wires. But still I had no spark. I checked the wiring and cleaned some of the connections. I am not getting spark to the spark plugs but I am at the points. I think the points are improperly gapped. I am also going to grind the frame at the ground to bare metal to get a better connection. What are the points supposed to be set at? What else should I be looking for to get spark to the plugs?

A bad condensor wil stop the spark from happening. I would go with new points and condensor.

Ditto, should have gone for those two first then you might have been done.

If you have the points, condensor and coil hooked up, attache a pluh wire from the top of the coild to a spark free spark plug. Now, when the points are closed and open, you should see a good blue spark across the plug.

standard point setting is .018"
new point setting is .022"

tune up book
Make sure you are grounding the plug when checking for spark.
